SAKD 2.0 concludes in East Siang with strong rural outreach at Kiyit

KIYIT, March 20: The 10th edition of SAKD 2.0 was inaugurated by Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng at Government Secondary School, Kiyit, in East Siang district on Thursday, marking the successful culmination of the district’s rural outreach initiative aimed at delivering essential services to remote and rural populations.

Organised by the district administration, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents of Kiyit, Ngopok, Borguli, and Seram under the Monggu Banggo ZPM segment. People gathered in large numbers to avail a wide range of services provided by various government departments, financial institutions, and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Siang.

The MLA inspected the stalls set up by participating departments and reviewed the services being extended to the public. Addressing the gathering, Tayeng underscored the significance of SAKD as a proactive governance initiative, stating that such camps in the Mebo sub-division have effectively facilitated access to government and essential services for rural residents, saving them the time and effort of travelling to district headquarters.

He emphasised the need to enhance awareness about various government schemes, services, and banking facilities through such outreach programmes. He added that these initiatives would contribute significantly to livelihood generation and overall rural development.

Tayeng was accompanied by ZPMs Bapiyang Tayeng and Neena Megu, ADC (Mebo) Nancy Yirang, CO Toimi Tagi, and SRA (Planning) Benjamin Tabing, along with PRIs, GBs, and village secretaries.

Among the key highlights of the programme were farmer registration drives conducted by the Agriculture, Horticulture and allied departments, aimed at enabling farmers to access central and state-sponsored schemes. The DLSA conducted awareness sessions on free legal aid for the poor and needy.

Under the aegis of the Lead Bank Office, Pasighat, awareness programmes were also conducted on government-sponsored schemes such as PMEGP, DDUSY, and PM SVANIDHI. Services including bank account opening, KYC updation, enrolment in social security schemes, and resolution of banking-related queries were also provided on the spot.

The successful conduct of the 10th SAKD 2.0 programme reflects the district administration’s continued commitment to inclusive governance and last-mile service delivery in East Siang.
