ITANAGAR, Nov 29: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Saturday issued a 15-day ultimatum to the state government, demanding immediate resolution of land compensation issues related to Packages I–V of the Lada-Sarli Frontier Highway project.
ANYA president Jamru Ruja, addressing media persons at the APC, stated that despite the continuous efforts made by the East Kameng district unit of ANYA, the state government’s response has remained unsatisfactory. This, he said, compelled the central body of ANYA to intervene to ensure justice for the affected families.
Informing that the apex body officially took up the matter on November 24, Ruja said, “Our objective is to deliver justice to deprived beneficiaries and facilitate timely and corruption-free execution of the project,” adding that while the association wishes for a peaceful solution, the government’s lackadaisical attitude has forced the association to issue an ultimatum.
Stating, issue could have been resolved at the district level, but negligence from authorities has escalated the matter to the capital complex, Ruja also stated that, if necessary, ANYA may call for a bandh within the capital complex to press for their demands.
ANYA has called upon the fact-finding committee to submit its report to the state government at the earliest, enabling necessary action. The association's key demands include:
Immediate re-verification of Packages I–V, Recovery of misused funds related to false billing in the project, Handing over of the project to the user or construction agency for timely initiation of work, Proper identification of muck dumping zones, ensuring protection of flora, fauna and the environment, Strict legal action against those involved in fund misappropriation and Fair and urgent compensation to all affected beneficiaries
Additionally, ANYA insisted that one representative from the association be included in the re-verification committee to ensure transparency and an unhindered verification process.
