KHONSA, March 20: A joint inspection was carried out in Tirap district on Friday to check hoarding, black marketing, and price manipulation of LPG, Motor Spirit (MS), and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) products.
The inspection was conducted by the district administration in coordination with the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, Police Department, and Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs to ensure fair distribution and prevent malpractices in the supply of essential petroleum products.
The inspection team was led by ADC Khonsa Namneet Singh, IAS. The team included DF&CSO Bompi Kadu, C.K. Insha from the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, Bomiyir Dirchi, APCS, in-charge of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, along with officials from the Police Department.
During the exercise, the team visited various markets, commercial establishments, gas agencies, and petrol pumps across the district to verify compliance with government regulations. Officials examined stock registers, sale records, and pricing practices related to LPG, MS, and HSD products.
Special emphasis was laid on identifying irregularities in the supply and distribution system, including unauthorized storage, diversion of commodities, and attempts to manipulate prices. The team also interacted with traders and consumers, stressing the need for fair trade practices and strict adherence to prescribed norms.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to protecting consumer interests and maintaining transparency in the distribution of essential commodities. It warned that strict legal action would be taken against any individual or establishment found indulging in hoarding, black marketing, or price manipulation.
It was further informed that such inspections will continue in the future to ensure market discipline and maintain a steady supply of petroleum products and LPG in the district, particularly in view of the prevailing international energy supply situation.
