H-Spring Pasighat leads inclusive awareness drive on World Down Syndrome Day

PASIGHAT, March 21: H-Spring Integrated School, Pasighat, under the H-Spring Foundation, marked World Down Syndrome Day on Saturday along with Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month through a meaningful programme aimed at promoting inclusivity and awareness.

Held on the themes “Together Against Loneliness” and “Stronger Together,” the initiative focused on encouraging support for individuals with developmental and neurological conditions while fostering a sense of community and understanding.

The programme began with children presenting handmade gifts to the invited guests, followed by vibrant cultural performances that showcased their talents and abilities.

Chairperson Dr. Oimang Megu addressed the gathering, sharing insights on cerebral palsy, including its causes and symptoms, and underscored the importance of early intervention and therapy. She also spoke about her personal journey as a parent and her commitment to working in the field to bring about positive change.

Special Guest Bandhana Deori, IRS (Retd.), appreciated the initiative and inaugurated a special “Spider-case” facility designed to support children with special needs. She was joined by Mumne Moyong and Omily Borang, who extended support by providing stationery items and treats for the children and staff.

An informative presentation on Down syndrome was delivered by Dr. Kapong Modi (PT), highlighting the need for awareness, early diagnosis, and structured support systems. As part of the programme, children were also provided with visual routine and behaviour charts to assist in their developmental progress.

The event highlighted the significance of early intervention, therapy, and community awareness in reducing stigma and ensuring equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The programme concluded with a strong message that disability does not define potential, reaffirming H-Spring Integrated School’s continued efforts towards building a more inclusive and compassionate society. (DIPRO)
