One Dead, Another Critical in Tragic Ring Well Incident at Karsingsa

Karsingsa, May 22: A tragic incident shook Tapik Colony in Karsingsa on Wednesday afternoon when two young men were trapped inside a ring well, resulting in the death of one and leaving the other in critical condition.

The Banderdewa Police Station received a distress call around 1:54 PM informing that two individuals had fallen unconscious inside a ring well and required immediate rescue. A police team swiftly rushed to the spot and, with assistance from local residents, launched a rescue operation.

The two victims were identified as Riya Tago (23), son of Riya Kano, and Sosar John (23), son of Poli Kaha—both residents of Tapik Colony. They were found unconscious inside a ring well owned by Riya Kano. Police and locals managed to retrieve both men using ropes and by supplying oxygen during the operation. They were immediately transported to TRIHMS, Naharlagun for emergency medical attention.

While Sosar John is currently reported to be in stable condition, Riya Tago sadly could not be revived despite all medical efforts.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Riya Tago had entered the well to clean it but lost consciousness due to lack of oxygen. In a courageous attempt to save him, Sosar John entered the well but also fell unconscious.

An Unnatural Death (UD) case has been registered at Banderdewa Police Station, and further enquiry is underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
