Itanagar, May 21: In a major push to promote tourism in the capital region, Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom, IAS, launched a specially designed 3-day, 2-night tourism itinerary aimed at providing visitors with an immersive and enriching experience. The itinerary, themed “Adventure – Heritage – Nature – Cultural Experiences,” is meant to showcase the unique blend of culture, nature, and adventure that the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) has to offer.
The itinerary has been curated by Tourism Officer Rechi Lugnya Likha in collaboration with local tourism stakeholders. The initiative reflects a community-driven approach to tourism development, with the goal of encouraging longer visitor stays, supporting local livelihoods, and offering memorable travel experiences rooted in the region’s identity.
On Day 1, visitors will dive into the cultural richness of Arunachal Pradesh. The day includes visits to traditional markets, interactions with local artisans, tasting of tribal cuisine, and enjoying cultural performances. This experience offers tourists a chance to understand and appreciate the region’s diverse tribal heritage and vibrant community life.
Day 2 focuses on adventure and nature. Tourists can take part in paragliding activities at Tago, followed by a peaceful village walk and a heritage walk around the scenic Gyekar Sinyi (Ganga Lake). This day is designed to balance excitement with serenity, allowing visitors to enjoy both adrenaline-pumping activities and moments of quiet reflection in nature.
The final day, Day 3, starts with a sunrise trek and a nature trail at Daria Hill Station, where guests can enjoy birdwatching and butterfly spotting. The day wraps up with a long, scenic drive through the hills and a relaxing riverside dining experience in Sopo—a perfect way to unwind and reflect on the trip before heading home.
At the launch, DC Talo Potom emphasized the importance of sustainable and inclusive tourism. He highlighted that the itinerary is part of a larger vision to position ICR as a key tourist destination, while also promoting eco-friendly practices and creating economic opportunities for local communities.
This new tourism itinerary is aligned with Arunachal Pradesh’s broader strategy to develop experience-based tourism that benefits both visitors and residents. It offers a fresh and engaging way to explore the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventurous spirit of the region—making Itanagar a must-visit destination in Northeast India.
