Tawang, May 22: In a heartfelt show of patriotism and unity, the people of Tawang came together today for a grand Tiranga Yatra, marching from the Giant Buddha statue to the Tawang War Memorial to honour the Indian Armed Forces and security personnel.
The event drew thousands of participants—monks and nuns, students, NCC cadets, and members of all political parties—walking side by side to express their respect and gratitude to the country’s soldiers. The yatra was led by NCC cadets from Higher Secondary School, Jang, who impressed the crowd with their marching band performance.
At the War Memorial, the atmosphere was deeply emotional. Students from Manjushree Vidyapeeth performed a patriotic dance, while singers Vishal and Rinchin Zomba moved everyone with their touching patriotic songs.
MLA Namgey Tsering, who addressed the gathering, thanked the armed forces and border security personnel for their courage and sacrifices. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack and praised the strong response of the Indian military under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
He also extended special thanks to Dhobley Rinpoche, the Abbot of Sera Je Jamyang Choekorling Monastery, and the monks and nuns from nearby monasteries for their visible support to the nation. “The bond between civilians and the military in Tawang is special and should be an example for the whole country,” he said.
MLA Tsering highlighted that this march was more than just a symbolic gesture—it was a true reflection of the people’s respect and emotional connection with the armed forces. He also appreciated all political parties for setting aside their differences and uniting for this cause.
In a touching moment, he honoured senior army officers by presenting them with traditional swords and khadas (ceremonial scarves) as a mark of deep respect.
Today’s Tiranga Yatra was not just a march—it was a powerful reminder of Tawang’s strong sense of patriotism, unity, and unwavering support for the brave men and women who protect the nation.
